Lumani: Lighting the World with Innovations

Chris Hung,CEO , LumaniChris Hung, CEO
We live in an age where energy is an absolute necessity to maintain the lifestyle and it goes beyond the basics of providing comfort and convenience. We only need to think back to the last power cut to understand the reality of life without energy, when nothing that we have come to be dependent on, works. The world today is witnessing immense crisis in terms of energy usage—people are spending much of their time developing LED lights and energy efficient products while ignoring the user scenario. Despite the development of technologically energy efficient products, the necessity to develop products that work smart is ever increasing. Aligning with the same, Singapore-based Lumani not only saves energy but increases the productivity of people in work environment and convenience stores by reducing the need to adjust the lights level or ACs temperature set point. The company makes it possible with its US patented automatic switch mode technology that can sense the optimum mode of operation: Busy (Light high dimming level, AC low temperature); Sensor (Light low-high dimming level on occupancy sensor, AC medium temperature); Silent (Light Off, AC high temperature or Off). Lumani delivers high quality products to global markets to improve the lives of people. “Our products are fully autonomous, once set up, they do not need further instructions. The lights and ACs automatically function as per the instructions set in the system,” says Chris Hung, CEO of Lumani.

Blending communication and energy-saving automation into a single platform, Lumani offers sensors, lighting, and AC control with its platform—LumaZones.

We not only work towards saving energy but also improve the quality of the lives for people

Launched in 2016, LumaZones is an open cloud based platform with complete infrastructure for IoT applications. It is scalable, powerful, and easy to integrate with new devices and appliances. LumaZones collects data from sensors that automatically adjust the light level by detecting the activity based occupancy level at different zones in the building. The ACs set point of each zone works in tandem with the operating mode of the light in that zone. The platform also offers Energy monitoring service which allows monitoring of the energy consumption and activity level of a place.

Also, employing the capabilities of artificial intelligence into its platform, Lumani accumulates savings by reducing unnecessary wastage. The key differentiation of LumaZones platform is its “sensor mode” of operation that enables further energy savings in AC and lighting without compromising on occupants’ comfort. Skillfully using its sensor capabilities, LumaZones changes the lighting of an environment keeping in mind the health of the occupants. For instance, during dusk, the lighting turns ‘yellowish’ and during the day, it turns ‘bright’.

The team at Lumani has been delivering these capabilities to Government bodies, property developers, corporations, convenience stores and through partnering with local installers and distributors, to improve their lighting and AC systems for more energy savings. CoSpace Taipei Office save up to 70 percent of their electricity bill with Lumani Lighting Solution. The company also serves LED Manufacturers such as China Electric and EnergyLED with its energy efficient platform. With local distributors and installed sites in Singapore & Indonesia, Lumani is planning expansion to other regions.

The company envisions delivering these capabilities to a vast client base across the globe with a vision to make its products more accessible while promoting its autonomous system that helps ‘save energy’. In the future, Lumani aims to introduce products that have the capability of ‘self-error recovery’ with ‘user pattern correction’ and plans to expand its business in the US. “We not only work towards saving energy but also improve the quality of the lives for people,” concludes Hung.
