Haven: The International Transport Management Experts

In many cases, shipping companies are seen using email or paper-based documentation processes to manage their logistics practices. Not only are these approaches inefficient and error-prone but also highly time-consuming. The need for a substantial digitalized approach to logistics operations thus goes without saying. Haven addresses these challenges with its solutions-focused transportation management system (TMS) that streamlines and optimizes the workloads more effectively, thereby saving business-critical human hours. Moreover, with Haven’s TMS platform serving as a central cloud-based system of record, its clients can run real-time reports and analyses on critical data that would be otherwise lost in emails and phone calls. With full visibility into supply chain operations, clients can monitor shipping operations to eliminate costly mistakes and react faster to delays. In addition, Haven’s platform allows different parties to improve collaboration through real-time messaging.
What makes Haven’s TMS offering more potent than its contemporaries in the logistics market is the fact that it is developed keeping global trading practices in mind.
Since most of the off-the-shelf TMS solutions are focused on domestic trucking, when the companies attempt to modify such solutions for use in global trade, the results are less than desired. This is because the procedures and documentation involved in domestic trade are quite different from international shipping because of the various laws and regulations. Haven’s TMS platform, therefore, brings the much-need relief for commodity traders, food producers, and other large shippers in their pursuit to automate global transport management. “The platform can be configured according to your needs so that it conforms to the way your team operates, and not the other way around,” adds Wehner.
To illustrate the platform’s capabilities, Wehner mentions a successful partnership with a major U.S. importer to showcase Haven’s capabilities. The client was importing goods from 45 different locations, which involved different quantities and different sets of documentation; it was incredibly cumbersome to keep track of all the data in a disorganized and cluttered email inbox. The client was using spreadsheets to manage trackers and updating them manually. To reduce errors and streamline the process, Haven provided its online transport management solution that could organize orders from multiple suppliers. This allowed the client to have a single source of truth for all the international shipment transactions along with the associated overhead expenses. And consequently, the client was able to monitor cargo shipments and factor in delays so that goods could be moved into store shelves on time.
In another instance, Haven helped a leading consumer packaged goods (CPG) company enhance its workflow and document management process. The CPG company had several hundred thousand documents that needed to be managed across tens of thousands of shipments. Haven’s platform enabled the client to gain visibility over each order and manage each shipment with accuracy. The CPG company also offered its customers an online portal to track shipments. Haven was able to power that too so that all the end consumers get easy access to accurate international shipping data.
Keeping in line with this robustness of its TMS offering, Haven is now planning to add optical character recognition capabilities and more efficient data processing methods to enhance the platform. Alongside this, the company’s new APIs are being designed to replace and augment traditional electronic data interchange (EDI) transactions, which are commonplace in the logistics industry. Continuing with its journey that started by reimagining TMS software, Haven is poised to leave a significant ‘digital’ imprint in the global trade management space.
