ComOps Limited: Workforce Management Solutions for Productivity Improvement

Gerry Williams,CEO, ComOps LimitedGerry Williams, CEO
The Australian labour market has always presented unique challenges including heritage of our labour relations, strong trade unions and demanding compliance rules to all business operators. In 1979 the owner of several McDonalds’ restaurant franchises developed his own labour scheduling software to enable additional productivity benefits by aligning employee tasks with customer orders. Consequently, eTivity became McDonalds’ corporate workforce management tool. This alignment of tasks and people became the cornerstone of our leading labour standards best practice enabling retailers to benchmark productivity across their stores.

The Australian eTivity founders focused on a culture of delivering a functionally and technologically innovative workforce management system which attracted blue chip retailers including Kmart and Event Cinemas. Developed in the Microsoft solution suite, eTivity is a multi-tenanted, .Net and HTML enabled solution which can be deployed in either public, private clouds or on premise.

In 2013 ComOps, an ASX listed technology company, purchased eTivity and continue to focus on its extensive retail and hospitality industry value drivers. The customers now include Super Retail Group, JBHIFI, Spotlight, Michael Hill, Winning Group, Bendon, BNT, Lovisa, and 10 others.

    Today our customers are expecting to optimise their labour to;
    • Drive ongoing productivity benefits by enabling the right people, in the right place, at the right time.
    • Maximise sales conversions in store by using sales forecasts.
    • Optimise customer satisfaction and service levels by ensuring rostered labour have the right capabilities (skills, accreditation and training) to serve the expected customer demands.
    • Enhance employee engagement by providing access to their workforce management system on any device, at any time.

As Australia’s leading workforce management provider, our customers highlight the following unique values as key reasons to work with the ComOps retail solution eTivity:
“Rather than occupying seven staff for five hours every week, loading the information into the payroll system is completed by two people in just one hour, saving one full-time equivalent staff.”

    Spotlight Retail Group
“eTivity helps us to effectively manage labour costs and drive productivity. Our managers now have more time to spend with our customers rather than sorting out rosters”

    Kmart
“Before we bought ComOps, the cost to prepare each payslip was double what it is today. But this solution has enabled us to reduce that cost per payslip, delivering direct savings to our bottom line.”

As Australia’s leading workforce management provider, our customers highlight the following unique values as key reasons to work with the ComOps retail solution eTivity

    Toga Group
“Since payroll is the biggest cost component that department heads can control, ComOps WFM gives them slice and dice shifts for optimal results that can deliver substantial savings without compromising on quality of service.”

    Event Group
“ComOps and eTivity impressed us as a very professional organisation. They showed us how their product could meet our specific needs and provide the right mix of powerful features and ease of use.”

    G8 Education
ComOps, under the brand names eTivity, Microster, Rostima and Salvus, provides effective workforce management solutions including rostering & scheduling, award interpretation, labour cost management, fatigue risk management, time & attendance, employee self-service portals, risk management & safety compliance and workforce analytics.
