ByBiTech: Spearheading Modernization in Construction Industry

For the longest of time, the construction industry was reluctant to part with traditional design and engineering methods (2D drawings) in favor of the latest technological advancements. However, Building Information Modelling (BIM) is driving a seismic shift in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) landscape. The belief in the industry is that BIM will soon impact every business linked directly or indirectly with AEC. ByBiTech, a proven market leader in the spectre of BIM implementation, helps organizations make a seamless transition from conventional techniques to BIM. “We help construction firms, EPC firms, contractors, engineers, architects, architectural consultants, and owners adopt BIM and implement the technology at every level of design and construction, planning, management, and post-construction stages,” says Selvam Mk., CEO of the Singapore-based company.

Since the cost of implementation of BIM technology remains a challenge, several budget-strapped organizations tend to complete the project with traditional delivery methods before squeezing in technology deployment. To thwart this industry pain point, ByBiTech takes its customers through a comprehensive BIM consulting phase wherein a client is advised on every available technology option vis-a-vis benefits. “One of the key factors behind our success story is that we offer clients the tools and processes that cater to their needs. This is made possible as we spend time and effort to understand every project scenario and client standards. It is based on this that we select the best software and execution procedure,” stresses Selvam. Beyond BIM Consulting and implementation, ByBiTech’s Academy branch also offers BIM Training for the AEC industry.

In ByBiTech, we offer our clients the tools, processes and skill set that are regulatory compliant and bring client value. That’s one of our key success factor

Some of these training services include BIM 3D Modelling and 2D Documentation, BIM 4D Coordination & Simulation, BIM 5D QTO & Costing, BIM 6D Facility Management, BIM 7D Analysis, BIM Authority Submission, and BIM Awareness Workshop. ByBiTech Academy offers on-site educational course for all levels: from Senior Executives to design & construction staff.

To illustrate an example of how ByBiTech’s BIM solutions drive customer success, Selvam narrates a use case scenario involving a tunnel. Prior to a reconstruction project, the contractors, engineers, and architects were saddled with traditional AEC methods that required a ton of time and manpower. ByBiTech stepped in and made an instant impact. “An incomplete as-built data was entrusted with before we joined the fray. After collecting point cloud data, we reconstructed the design templates before work on the actual project got underway. It is to be noted that the time and manpower were reduced drastically by opting BIM to the manual methods,” explains Selvam. Besides stamping their footprint on two major expressways, namely Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway and Central Expressway, ByBiTech has successfully built a water mist firefighting system for one of its clients.

This noteworthy body of work wouldn’t be possible without ByBiTech forging strong ties with government agencies such as Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Public Utilities Board (PUB). Owing to these partnerships, ByBiTech enables its resources to gather the latest industry and regulatory knowledge—data unattainable by other market construction technology vendors. While conceding that ByBiTech is empowered by its critical partnerships in the technocratic arena, Selvam says, “When creativity, technology, and hard work are combined through strategic planning and execution, incredible results are achieved. We listen, understand, interpret and add values to every client idea.” Launched in the year 2012, ByBiTech uses BIM models that meet NBIMS/IFC standards—CPE 38.

Forging ahead, ByBiTech will continue to add new weapons to its arsenal by studying emerging technologies to build new solutions. “Our expansion in the Indian subcontinent is going to help our clients reach a broader skillset and knowledge. Our work in designing Smart Cities and cloud-based services will bring business value to our customers,” concludes Selvam.
