BASS Software: Streamlining Maritime Operations

BASS’ single-platform strategy provides customers complete flexibility to identify and define the best practices for fleet management. “Moreover, our module-based approach enables clients to implement the solutions that meet their current need, and add other BASSnet™ modules as their business evolves,” mentions Upsaker. The platform also facilitates the exchange of information between their internal applications and third-party systems. Alongside, BASSnet™ offers comprehensive features like visual insight and a 360-degree view of fleet-wide performance to enable better decision-making. These provide fleet companies with an easily scalable solution that complements their growth journey in the marine trade universe.
Today, more than 100 fleet owners, including many of the world’s leading shipping companies, run fully-integrated BASSnet™ fleet management systems on more than 2,000 vessels to manage their physical assets, operational processes, and human resources, while ensuring regulatory compliance and improving financial results.
Riding on this innovation bandwagon, BASS recently announced the roll-out of version 2.10 of BASSnet™. “This release marks a significant milestone in our journey as a leading provider of maritime software solutions,” says Upsaker. The latest update comes with a host of enhancements such as data privacy laws compliance, enhanced fleet management, and 12 improved BASSnet™ modules. “Featuring modern, sophisticated, and user-friendly features, BASSnet™ 2.10 is optimized for integrated, powerful performance on a fleet-wide basis,” Upsaker adds.
Another breakthrough for the company is BASSnet™ Cloud that allows users to access the comprehensive maritime software from any location with internet access. Since BASSnet™ Cloud does not involve any upfront costs for installation and hosting of BASSnet™ systems, it demonstrates a huge potential for cost savings. Users can choose from the list of different cloud service offerings—BASSnet™ Software as a Service (SaaS), BASSnet™ Infrastructure Management Service (IMS), and BASSnet™ Application Management Service (AMS)—depending on their requirements.
Moreover, the company will soon be launching BASSnet™ Web Portal which was designed and developed in recognition of the global, fast-paced and mobile nature of business today. Be it from land, shore or ship, users will be able to conveniently view key up-to-date data via mobile devices with internet access, allowing for prompt informed decision-making. It also provides users with the ability to approve certain transactions such as invoices and requisitions on the go.
The BASSnet ™ Web Portal contains a wide range of data available for users. The following are just some examples: a) Safety & Improvement Reporting (SAFIR) – Keep track on the causes of accident; b) Compliance – Monitor and keep track of the compliance status for all vessels; c) KPIs for HRM – Monitor the status and progress of key performance indicators (KPIs) for HRM; d) KPIs by Vessel - An overview of each vessel’s KPIs side-by-side allows for quick comparisons.
Established in 1997, BASS has attained great peaks of success and notable reputation in the maritime industry. Upsaker credits their solid footing in the maritime community and unparalleled technical vision as the secret of this success. Looking ahead, BASS intends to continue their innovation drive by developing configurable upgrades in BASSnet™ version 3.0— such as budget forecasting, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, electronic certificates, and Cortana Skills Kit—to stay ahead of the maritime fleet management curve.
